3rd Project AWARE Survey

My SSI Perfect Buoyancy instructor and I spent 107 minutes at Shangri-la Marine Sanctuary, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines down to a maximum depth of 15.8 meters. We recovered 20 pieces of debris weighing a total of .5 kilo.

One interesting thing that happened is that we encountered two other divers who had recovered some trash, but they had forgotten to bring a mesh bag. So we added their debris to our mesh bag, and those items are included in this survey.

It is worth noting that Shangri-la Marine Sanctuary is very clean. We recover absolutely everything we see. You can swim a considerable distance and see no trash at all. Plus, this survey includes debris recovered from a separate dive team which swim through a different area. So, this survey covers a relatively large area.
